Reports from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the Florida Department of Health (FDOH) indicate that the Zika virus has reached Bay County. As we consider the health, safety and well-being of our students, employees and community to be top priorities, we have put together the following list of resources and websites to keep you informed and updated.
About Zika virus:
The Zika virus spreads mainly through the bite of an infected mosquito. Zika can cause a mild illness, although only 1 in 5 infected people get symptoms. The best way to prevent Zika is to prevent mosquito bites. Drain all standing water and protect exposed skin with EPA – registered insect repellent and by wearing long sleeves and pants.
