Capitol Cohort

Bay District Schools recently traveled to Tallahassee to engage in meaningful conversations with our local state representatives at the Florida Capitol, focused on supporting students, teachers, and families across our community.

Senator Jay Trumbull met with district and school leaders to discuss the important work happening in our elementary schools, with a particular emphasis on improving student attendance and addressing truancy. These discussions highlighted the proactive steps already underway to support families, encourage consistent attendance, and ensure students are present, engaged, and thriving in the classroom.

We are grateful for Senator Trumbull’s continued advocacy for Bay County and public education, as well as for Representative Griff Griffiths, who met with another group of district leaders during the visit. Bay County is fortunate to have representatives who value collaboration, listen to educators, and work at the state level to help secure the resources and tools our schools need to support student success.
