Bay District Schools is pleased to announce two leadership appointments that will take effect for the upcoming school year.
Dr. Todd Mitchell has been selected as the next principal of J.R. Arnold High School following the retirement of Principal Britt Smith. Dr. Mitchell currently serves as principal of Rutherford High School, where he has led significant improvements in graduation rates and academic outcomes while building a culture centered on high expectations and strong relationships with students and staff. His steady leadership and focus on student success will help continue the strong tradition of excellence at Arnold High School.
Bay District Schools has also named Michelle Good as the new principal of Deer Point Elementary School. Good currently serves as principal of Callaway Elementary School, where she successfully guided the campus through state turnaround status while strengthening academic performance and school culture. A Bay District Schools Principal of the Year, Good is widely respected for her commitment to instructional excellence and student achievement.
Both Dr. Mitchell and Good will officially begin their new roles on July 1. Each will begin transitioning into their positions as early as April to support a smooth leadership transition for their school communities.
District leaders say both appointments reflect Bay District Schools’ continued commitment to strong leadership and student success across all campuses.
