Bay District Schools announced Tuesday during its School Board meeting that it has officially joined the Space Florida Academy Program, a statewide initiative designed to connect students with high-demand careers and industry-recognized credentials in some of Florida's fastest-growing industries.
The new partnership reinforces the district's commitment to preparing students for success beyond graduation by expanding awareness of career opportunities in aerospace and related fields. Through the program, students will gain greater access to information about high-wage, high-skill careers while earning credentials valued by employers.
The Space Florida Academy Program focuses on workforce pathways in aviation and aerospace, advanced manufacturing, construction, cybersecurity and information technology, logistics, and semiconductors.
Many of these career pathways are already available through Bay District Schools' Career and Technical Education (CTE) programs and at Tom P. Haney Technical College. The partnership with Space Florida helps connect those educational opportunities directly to Florida's growing aerospace industry, giving students a clearer picture of how the skills they develop in high school can lead to rewarding careers.

The Space Florida Academy Program is a collaborative effort among Space Florida, the Florida Department of Education, the Florida Department of Commerce, the REACH Office (Reimagining Education and Career Help), CareerSource Florida, industry leaders, and participating school districts throughout the state.
District leaders said the partnership aligns with Bay District Schools' ongoing efforts to provide students with meaningful choices after graduation, whether they pursue college, careers, military service, or technical training. By expanding access to industry-connected learning experiences, the district continues to strengthen opportunities that prepare students for success in an evolving workforce.
The announcement marks another step in Bay District Schools' commitment to equipping students with the knowledge, skills, and credentials needed to thrive in Florida's high-demand industries while supporting the state's growing economy.
