Step right up! Bay District Schools’ cafeterias are celebrating National School Lunch Week with circus-inspired fun and a spotlight on the meals that help students make the most of their school day.

Our Food Services team and partners at Chartwells are bringing this year’s theme, “Cafeteria Circus: Where Nutrition Takes Center Stage,” to life with special menu features, student favorites, and a little big-top excitement.

The celebration will include a visit from School Board members to Merriam Cherry Street Elementary School on Friday, where they will experience the fun alongside students and recognize the people who make school meals possible.

Behind every lunch tray is a team preparing, serving and helping students find something to enjoy. For these employees, a busy lunch period is also an opportunity to offer a friendly greeting, learn a student’s name and make the cafeteria a welcoming place.

While this week brings extra excitement to the menu, that work happens every school day. School meals help students return to class nourished and ready to focus, participate and learn.
