Grit and Gold: Breakfast Point Academy Wraps Historic Track & Field Season

PANAMA CITY BEACH, FL – The Breakfast Point Academy (BPA) Track & Field team closed out their season with a thunderous performance at the Bay County Championship meet yesterday, proving that hard work and "grit" are the hallmarks of the program.

Led by Coaches Pocernich and Arms, the Stingrays didn't just compete; they rewrote the record books and brought home individual gold, solidifying this season as one for the ages.

A Championship Performance

The highlight of the county meet came from the distance lanes, where Remi Arnold dominated the field. With a powerful kick and steady pace, Remi Arnold secured the title of Bay County Champion in the Girls 1600m.

Her victory anchored a stellar day for the girls' team, who fought their way to a 5th place overall finish in a highly competitive county field.

Record-Breaking Leaps and Sprints

While today marked the season's peak, the preceding weeks were defined by historic individual achievements. Two athletes, in particular, set new benchmarks for the BPA program:

  • Harleigh Henderson: In a stunning display of speed and versatility, Henderson shattered three school records this season, setting new all-time bests in the 100m, 200m, and the Long Jump.

  • David Hamm: Showcasing incredible athleticism in the pits, Hamm claimed his own piece of history by breaking the school record in the Long Jump.

Growth Across the Board

Beyond the medals and the records, Coaches Pocernich and Arms emphasized that the true success of the season lay in the collective improvement of the entire roster.

"Our athletes had a great track season, full of hard work and grit," the coaches said in a joint statement. "Today’s meet saw so many personal bests on both the boys' and girls' sides. We are so proud of our athletes for putting forward their best effort and supporting each other every step of the way!"
