Join us for our upcoming (not so) Scary Story Night!

One canvas. Many artists. A school full of creativity. 💙💛🎨

Mr. McGowan recently extended his classroom ARTism program into a schoolwide project, inviting students throughout Margaret K. Lewis School to contribute to a shared canvas through music and artistic expression.

Students chose paint colors they liked, while teachers selected music their classes had not heard together before. From classical and rock to country and even jazz, each selection offered a new backdrop for creativity. With no prescribed design or directions about what to paint, students were free to make their own marks wherever and however they felt inspired.

Teachers shared that students loved the experience and noticed how their painting reflected the music playing around them. As each class added its contributions, the canvas became a celebration of individuality, connection, and the many ways our students express themselves.

Now displayed in our hallway, the finished painting has become a popular attraction, capturing students’ attention and inviting them to pause and explore the artwork they helped create. The joy of this project continues well beyond the final brushstroke!

Thank you, Mr. McGowan, for bringing our school together through ARTism and creating space for every artist to contribute to something special!
