Our campus was buzzing with excitement on March 27th as we hosted our annual Super Viking Day: Touch-a-Truck event! This highly anticipated day gave students a hands-on opportunity to explore the vehicles, tools, and technology used by our local community helpers, military, and even biologists, all while learning about the important roles they play in keeping our community safe and running smoothly.
Students had the chance to climb aboard, ask questions, and interact with professionals from a wide range of organizations. We were proud to welcome representatives from the Navy Dive School, U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, Panama City Police Department including K-9 units, Bay County Fire Rescue, Arrow Pest Service, Panama City Beach Fire and Rescue Lifeguards, and the Bay County Sheriff's Office SWAT.
Each group brought vehicles and equipment, giving students an up-close look at everything from emergency response trucks and patrol vehicles to specialized gear used in rescue, conservation, and public safety. It was a special opportunity as students learned about local endangered species, therapy dogs, beach rip currents, law enforcement jobs, fire safety, pest management, and our unique local Navy Dive School. The experience sparked curiosity and inspired many students to consider future career paths.
Beyond the excitement, Super Viking Day reinforced the importance of character, responsibility, and community connection. We are incredibly grateful to all of our visiting organizations for taking the time to engage with our students and make this event so memorable and to Forest Park Church for providing lunch to our guest volunteers.
It was truly a SUPER day to be a Viking!
