COVID-19 Update

Thank you for your continued patience, understanding and support as we all work through the challenges of Covid-19 together and in the best interests of our children. We have all learned, first hand, how important in-person education is to our students and our community and we’re committed to doing all we can to ensure your student has continued access to safe, open schools.

As you know, we implemented the Governor’s order on 9/22/21 giving parents/guardians the right to choose whether or not to quarantine their asymptomatic students after exposure to someone else with Covid-19. Since then, most parents/guardians have chosen not to quarantine their students. More importantly, this change in procedure does not appear to have led to an increase in school transmission.

With that in mind, we want to let you know about a slight adjustment to our notification procedure that is designed to ensure you have the information you need to make the best decisions possible for your family. Moving forward, when a positive case is identified in your child’s class, you will receive an email informing you of the exposure and the date that it occurred. If you choose to quarantine your student based upon that information, please just contact the school to make those arrangements. This means we will also stop tracking the number of students quarantining on our website but we will continue to share the number of positive cases about which we are aware.

We will, of course, continue all of our COVID-19 mitigation efforts and tracking of cases in an effort to keep our students and staff safe. We also continue to work closely with our trusted partners at the Bay County Department of Health to ensure we are making the best decisions possible when it comes to the safety, and health, of our students, staff and community.
