FAST & BEST
By creating the new Florida Assessment of Student Thinking
(F.A.S.T.) plan, Florida is becoming the first state in the nation to fully implement progress monitoring instead of end-of-year standardized testing, and will fully eliminate Common Core. The computer-based assessments aligned with the Benchmarks for Excellent Student Thinking (B.E.S.T.) include the Writing Assessment (grades 4-10), Algebra 1 and Geometry end-of-course assessments, and the FAST progress monitoring assessments in Reading (VPK through grade 10) and Mathematics (VPK through grade 8). EOC assessments are computer-based, criterion-referenced assessments that measure the Florida Standards or the Next Generation Sunshine State Standards for specific courses: Biology 1, U.S. History, and Civics. LINK
